U6 / U8 Program Format
The U6 program is Coed and the U8 is gender based. In the spring the U6 and U8 program run in the afternoon so there is no crossover with the Little League T-ball program. Your child's assignment will be posted in late March. We will do our best to accommodate any special requests noted in your child's registration.
Please arrive no later than 10 minutes before your scheduled start time. Once
you arrive we will gather all the players in a group with the coaches and will work on a specific skill for that particular day. The children may work on different ways to pass or they may learn a new move like making a fake around a defender.
After a few minutes the coaches will line up the players and split
the group into teams of 3. The teams will play 3v3 (4v4 for U8) for about 10-12
minutes and then rotate.
We increase the skills training at the U8 level with a longer session more focused on preparing the players for the transition to a competitive team format at the U10 level.
There will be NO COACHING, no assigned positions and
no goalies. We will have parent volunteers to help out during each session to
keep things moving along. At this age
the best way for children to learn soccer is to simply kick the soccer ball as
many times as possible. We will be looking for parent volunteers to help out each
Saturday. Their main job will be to replace any ball that goes out of bounds
and help guide each team of 3 players to their next game. Towards the end of
each session the coaches will bring the players together for a fun
game for all to play.
